A man was seriously injured after crashing and rolling his truck in rural Otago.

Emergency services were called for the accident on Ettrick-Rae Junction Rd (State Highway 8), near Mccunn Rd, just north of the small township of Raes Junction, around 9 a.m. Friday.

A police spokeswoman said early reports suggested the truck had crashed and rolled over, leaving the man seriously injured.

It was unclear what type of truck it was, he said.

A spokeswoman for the Southern District Health Board said the man remained in the hospital’s intensive care unit on Friday afternoon.

New Zealand Fire and Emergency spokeswoman Jill Higginson said two teams from Heriot and Millers Flat attended and assisted St John and the police.

The way was open.

WorkSafe had been notified and was making initial inquiries to establish its next steps, a spokeswoman said.
