Sao Young was a beloved father and brother, who lived a semi-transitory lifestyle in Hamilton.
A 24-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of Hamilton’s man, Sao Young.
Young, 40, was last seen on the night of Thursday, March 12, in the Insoll Ave area and police believe it was the night he was killed.
After his death, his body was taken to a rural property on Ballard Rd in Gordonton, where it was discovered by a farmer, almost a month later, on Monday, April 13.
The man, charged with Young’s murder, was arrested at a Hamilton address Saturday night and is due to appear in Hamilton District Court on Monday.

Detective Inspector Graham Pitkethley said the homicide investigation is ongoing and is focused on identifying and searching for everyone present at the time of Young’s death.
“I would like to thank those who have contacted the team to date and encourage others to come forward to explain their involvement,” Pitkethley said.
“Our investigation team is committed to establishing the facts, providing closure for Young’s family and holding those responsible to account.”
In a statement, Young’s family said he was a valued member of the Cambodian community and that his family and community miss him deeply.
The family asks for continued privacy as they accept “the loss of their beloved Sao.”
