A 28-year-old man has been charged with multiple charges after a confrontation on Auckland’s Mount Albert.
On Friday afternoon, police gathered at a home and cordoned off part of St Lukes Rd, near the intersection of New North Rd and Taylors Rd, while trying to convince a man who had barricaded himself inside.
He claimed he had a firearm, police said.
The man was subsequently arrested without further incident after negotiations.

Since then, he has been charged with driving while disqualified, dangerous driving, and failing to stop for police under red and blue lights.

The intersection of St Lukes Rd, New North Rd and Taylors Rd was blocked by police during the incident on Friday afternoon.
He is also charged with possession of drug utensils and an offensive weapon.
He will appear in Auckland District Court on Saturday.
Officers had tracked a man home after he fled police when they approached his vehicle in Whitaker Place, Inspector Jason Homan said.

The man claimed to have a firearm in his possession, however a police search of the property revealed that this was not the case, police said.
Police did not pursue the man, but later located him at the Mount Albert home.
“Members of the Armed Criminal Squad have cleared the address and at this time no firearm has been located,” Homan said at the time.
A member of the public said Things the armed police were trying to get a man out of the house.
“The police are yelling at someone to come out with their hands up,” he said.
TO Things The visual journalist at the scene said there were six or seven police cars and two units of police dogs there.
Some officers appeared to be hiding behind one of the police cars.
The cordons in the area were lifted at 5:20 pm.
