A man who fled after allegedly hitting a 10-year-old boy with his car in Christchurch was arrested.
Beau MacBeath was crossing the street on his new scooter with his cousin when a car passed a bus and collided with him on McGregor’s Rd, Bromley, around 3:20 p.m. on October 1.
The driver fled the scene and Beau was taken to Christchurch hospital with a broken arm and kneecap.
A 27-year-old man had been charged with dangerous driving and causing injury and failing to stop or determine injuries after an accident, a police spokeswoman said.

He was placed in custody and would appear in Christchurch District Court on October 16.
Beau’s grandmother, Kim Scott, previously said Stuff, He bought Beau the electric scooter about a week before the accident, hoping it would help him forget the loss of his father to cancer earlier in the year and keep him away from the devices.
She said Beau didn’t want to go out after the accident.
“He really doesn’t want to go out, because he’s worried about walking anywhere, you know, if he crosses the street, are they going to hit him?
“All these things go through your mind unnecessarily.”
