The Wellington duo who went viral after a “devastating” fall saw their McDonald’s stock box open and scatter across the floor yards from their home and received a free replacement.

The nation’s hungry kiwis were grieved by Connor Fenwick and Zaman Lewis yesterday when their first taste of McDonald’s in five weeks went awry.

Fenwick spent an hour waiting in line at the Golden Arches, only to drop off the goods outside his Aro Valley home while his roommate watched.

“” I was so excited going up the hill. I went upstairs and Zaman was on the balcony looking at me. I could see the joy on his face, “he told the Herald earlier.

“When I went up, I tripped on the last ladder, then the bag broke and the Maccas went everywhere.”

Lewis posted the mishap on Facebook and Tik Tok and said the posts quickly went viral, and many people texted him saying they felt sorry for the roommates.

Fenwick tried to go back and buy more McDonald’s, but said there were “300 lines of cars” throughout Wellington that night.

However, local franchise owners came to the rescue, sending the couple a free box of stock so they could still get their fries.

In a YouTube video, the couple thanked the franchise owners for their generosity in their time of need.

“Obviously they are working very hard, everyone wants a Maccas feed and I thought it was great that some local business people contacted me after watching the video,” said Fenwick.
