Keighran’s return would likely come at the hubs, where he was named in the 2018 New South Wales Cup Team of the Year. He has also had times in the halves and as a prostitute in a utility role.
“It is one of my strengths to play in different positions and if I am on the field, it is a good thing for me.”
Roache has worked his way through the Warriors system, but since making his debut in 2016, injuries have limited him to just 26 appearances.
Roache may have a harder time getting on the field, with the depth of the Warriors as a hooker, where Karl Lawton is in the best shape of his career and Wayde Egan provides impact from the bench.
The 24-year-old is aiming to return for the final three games of the season, but knows his hardest job will be getting picked.
Interim coach Todd Payten says he wants to give each player at least one game to acknowledge the sacrifices they have made this year.
“Karl has stepped it up,” says Roache. “His running game is good and defensively, he’s strong.
“Wayde is a crafty prostitute and she’s done a good job too, but that makes my job more difficult. My job is to make sure my body is ready just in case, because you never know what will happen.”
Roache emphasizes the importance of playtime and believes it still has a lot to offer.
“It is very important,” he says. “It’s hard to stand a chance when you haven’t played in so long.
“Getting a game, or at least showing that I can beat a few games this year, would help.
“It’s something that I can’t control, but when I get the chance, I hope to grab it with both hands.
“Realistically, I know where I am, having been away from the game for so long, so it potentially has to be that.
“But I want to play, have my body good and whatever option presents itself, I will continue until this body is completely decomposed.”
