Labor’s Manurewa MP Louisa Wall is taking legal action against her own party over a nomination that was accepted to contest her seat.
The Labor Party sought the advice of a Queen’s Council on a Waitematā DHB Arena Williams board member nomination that came after the party’s deadline in early February.
The moment the nomination is received and accepted is understood to be critical to legal action.

Labor Party President Claire Szabo said the party had been tasked with following its constitution in accordance with legal advice.
Wall, Williams and veteran electorate organizer Ian Dunwoodie have been approved for the selection of candidates for the Auckland post.

Wall, who has held the electorate since 2011 and last year won the seat by an 8,000-vote majority, declined to comment when RNZ approached him.
Labor Prime Minister and Leader Jacinda Ardern said things like the selection process were handled by the party, not her.
“In general, they do not tend to interest the rest of New Zealand, but are generally limited to the Labor Party and the local electorate.
“So those processes must take their course; I’m not trying to intervene in that,” he said.
