A 31-year-old man appeared in Christchurch District Court this morning charged with the murder of Kane Wayman on New Year’s Day.
He is the fourth person charged in connection with Wayman’s violent death.
And police say more people could be brought to court as the investigation into the alleged New Years murder continues.
Wayman was left at Christchurch Hospital with critical injuries on January 1.
He died shortly after.

On Saturday, two people appeared in Christchurch District Court jointly charged, along with “unknown persons”, in the murder of Wayman.
The couple, a 24-year-old man and woman, appeared in court separately and were granted provisional name removal.
The 24-year-old defendant has been identified in the indictment documents as a pawn.
The woman is from Christchurch.
A third person, a 41-year-old man, was also charged with murder and appeared in Invercargill District Court yesterday.
Police said yesterday that examinations of the scene were continuing in two directions and that the police investigation was ongoing.
At today’s court appearance, the man, like his co-defendant, was granted provisional name expungement and held in custody until his next appointment in Christchurch Superior Court.
The four will appear together for the first time on February 4.
The deletion of names will be reviewed on that date.
