Sir Sean Connery died of pneumonia and heart failure, according to his death certificate.

Connery’s wife and two children said he “died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family” in the Bahamas on October 31, where he lived. His son Jason Connery said his father had been “bad for some time.”

According to Connery’s death certificate, which was obtained by TMZ, the James Bond actor died at the age of 90 from respiratory failure caused by pneumonia, old age and atrial fibrillation.

Atrial fibrillation is an irregular heart rate that can increase the risk of heart complications.

Connery’s widow, Micheline Roqubrune, has said that her late husband’s ashes will be scattered in her homeland of Scotland in the future.

Daniel Craig, the current Bond, said Connery “defined an era and a style” and that “the wit and charm he displayed on screen could be measured in megawatts.”

In addition to making his mark as James Bond, Connery also starred in The Hunt for Red October, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Y The rock.
