Ivanka Trump reportedly wants to go to Joe Biden’s inauguration to be a “good sport” and save her political career.

But the move is claimed to have caused a major rift with his father, who has already publicly stated that he will not attend the January 20 event.

The Daily Mail reports that Ivanka fears her “promising political career is in jeopardy” and is doing “everything she can to save her reputation.”

The report quotes a White House source as saying that Donald Trump is furious at his decision because the family should stand on a united front.

“He said it is an insult that she even wants to get involved with the criminals who are trying to take him down,” the source claimed.

The president told his daughter that her presence at the inauguration will cost her thousands of followers and would be the worst decision she could make.

“She said that she has to protect her own political aspirations and that she is not willing to spoil it all by attending the start of her father’s campaign in 2024, which is scheduled for the same day. She will leave it to her father and Don Jr.”

Ivanka has not yet confirmed her attendance and there are conflicting reports as to whether she is actually invited to attend.

Others have questioned in what capacity it will assist.

It comes after Trump announced that he would not be attending Biden’s inauguration, breaking a long precedent dating back to 1869.

The president revealed his decision on Twitter last week.

The peaceful handover of power from president to president, in person, is considered an important American tradition, even, or perhaps especially, when the two leaders represent different parties.

Barack Obama appeared at the inauguration of Donald Trump. George W. Bush introduced himself to Obama. Bill Clinton introduced himself to Bush. And so.

Only three outgoing presidents in the history of the United States have not attended the inauguration of their successor. They were John Adams in 1801, his son John Quincy Adams in 1829, and Andrew Johnson in 1869.

In a video message posted to his Twitter account the day before, Trump finally acknowledged that he would be leaving the White House to make way for Biden.

Last week, Ivanka faced intense backlash after labeling violent protesters “patriots” in a hastily deleted tweet.

The First Daughter’s tweet was posted in response to the chaos that unfolded in Washington DC, where Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building in an attempt to overthrow the results of the November 3 election.
