Police now wanted to speak to Nathan Te Hana as part of the investigation, he said.
Te Hana, 46, was believed to be in the Christchurch area.
Just before 9 p.m. Sunday, two police cars were outside Linwood’s home and there was cordon tape in the front of the property. There was a big blue tent in the driveway.
A scene guard remained in place overnight.
Shea, a close resident, who declined to give her last name, said there had previously been suspicious activity on the property and that people were always coming and going.
Anyone who has seen Te Hana or has information that could help the police find him should call 111 and quote file number 210103/2420.
