A headless snake has been captured on video in Australia trying to defend itself after being prodded with a tennis racket.
The images were posted on social media and show a snake darting in the direction of where it was being pushed.
It was posted on Reddit by user Jako Noble, who did not state on which beach he saw the distressed reptile.
He said he came across the snake while walking his dog.
“I found it on a beach while walking my dog,” he told Reddit users.
The video shows the snake being punctured multiple times and initially reacting to the direction the tennis racket was pushed before attempting to move in the opposite direction.
Jako Noble wrote that he believed a bird ate his head and then dropped it on the beach.
“A bird would have eaten it and dropped it on the beach,” he said.
“I think it was a bird that did it. They often go up for air and are on the surface for a while. There are also some raptors in the area.”
However, another user suggested that he may have been hit on the head with a shovel before Jako Noble found him.
“It wouldn’t be a surprise from that. I think the only saving grace is that they also took a small piece out of the side, as if something had eaten a little,” wrote Jako Noble.
