Collins was speaking to a crowd at a Waikanae bowling club today when he made the explosive comments.

“We discovered last week that, under the request of the Official Information Act, only seven percent of the personnel facing the border were being evaluated,” Collins said.

“It’s seven, not 100, not even a third or two-thirds, and he stood up and told us that on June 23 they were all being tested.

“What a lie, what a lie and I’ll tell it for what it is. And who was put at risk? Everyone in New Zealand.

“He lied to us and I’m happy to officially say it. Wow, I hope he sued me for it, happy to prove it.”

Ardern dismissed the attack as politicking.

“Opposition politics. I mean, look, these issues were well treated in the debating chamber and I don’t think I will have to go through all that again. Everything has been very public.”

According to RNZ, Ardern called Collins’s call for legal action “downright bizarre.”

With just three days left until the elections, political attacks are likely to continue heating up.
