Police were called into a boundary dispute between neighbors.
A gardening place turned violent when neighbors pulled hair instead of weeds.
Police were called into a dispute between neighbors in Coolock Cres, in the Dunedin suburb of Waverley, around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
Acting Sergeant Major Anthony Bond said the dispute centered on a garden boundary and led to a minor assault and theatrical behavior.
That included a woman throwing her neighbor’s plants and garden equipment down a hill.

Then he grabbed the woman’s hat and pulled her hair, Bond said.
Notices of violation were issued to both women.
Both parties agreed to contact a surveyor to define their limit and split the cost, Bond said.
The neighbor was warned to throw away the plants and garden equipment before pulling her neighbor’s hair and grabbing her hat.
In the meantime, the victim was warned not to garden on the boundary until the surveyor had surveyed the area, Bond said.
