A mysterious man who lives near the site of Tiger Woods’ car accident was the first to arrive on the scene and found the golf legend unconscious, authorities revealed.

Woods was reported unconscious in a wrecked SUV after he crashed in Southern California last week, suffering a broken ankle and broken two legs, and has undergone multiple surgeries since the incident.

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department is reportedly attempting to examine the vehicle’s black box recording, and the court documents part of its effort to obtain data that could show investigators the vehicle’s speed prior to the collision and if the brakes were applied. .

But court documents revealed that an unidentified witness was the first to arrive on the scene and found Woods unconscious, trying to speak to the golfer but getting no response.

However, when officers arrived, Woods was conscious and able to answer basic questions.

Woods told deputies, at the wreckage and later at the hospital, that he did not know how the accident occurred and did not recall driving, according to the affidavit.

The document was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court as part of a probable cause statement requesting that a search warrant be approved for the 2021 Genesis GV80 SUV black box.

A judge approved the data logger’s search warrant, but sheriff’s representatives declined to say what they found.

“LASD is not releasing further information at this time,” department spokesman Rep. Shawn Du Busky said in a statement yesterday. “The traffic collision investigation is ongoing and traffic investigators continue to work to determine the cause of the collision.”

Agents did not consult with the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office regarding search warrants in Woods’ investigation, according to district attorney spokesman Greg Risling.

Experts say police may ask prosecutors if there is sufficient probable cause to request a warrant, noting that it would be typical to do so in motor vehicle cases when there are no immediate signs of deterioration, but a detective believes there is a reason. to get a blood. shows.

Risling declined to comment further when asked if Los Angeles prosecutors generally weigh in on such cases.

Woods is from the Los Angeles area and returned home to host his PGA tournament, the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club, which ended two days before the accident.

He was driving a pickup truck loaned to him from the tournament when he hit an elevated median, crossed two oncoming lanes and uprooted a tree. The accident occurred on a downhill stretch that police say is notorious for shipwrecks.

Sheriff Alex Villanueva has said that Woods was driving only in good weather, there was no evidence of impairment and the accident was “purely an accident.” However, depending on what is found in the data recorder, Woods could face a misdemeanor driving charge or a traffic ticket.
