The scene where a boy was beaten up on the school grounds in Bucklands Beach.
A girl was killed by a car on the grounds of an Auckland school.
The boy was taken to Starship Hospital after being hit by a car outside Pigeon Mountain Elementary School in Bucklands Beach on Tuesday morning.
Counties Manukau East Police Chief Sgt. Anson Lin said the boy had been seriously injured and died in hospital.
“Sadly, he passed away this morning with his family by his side at Starship Hospital,” Lin said.
“The police extend our condolences to his family at this incredibly difficult time.”
“We have been providing whatever support we can to the family, as well as the school community in general, which has been greatly affected by this incident.”
Police have banned a 77-year-old man related to the incident from driving.
Lin said that, in the future, the police will continue to work with partner agencies to help ensure that those who require support have access to it.
“The police will seek to reveal the girl’s name in due course.”
“The police investigation into the accident is ongoing and there are no further updates at this time.”
