Almost everything about Kmart, especially if it’s a gimmick, tends to go viral and it seems this $ 10 fan is no different.

An Australian TikTok user, who goes by the name of Mark Jackson, recently took to the popular sharing platform for what has been described as a “game changer” for creating social media content.

While he appears to be just a fan with a light, the Australian dad revealed that there is much more to the “cheap” Kmart purchase and his video has garnered just under half a million views.

“Heard about this $ 10 ring light trick from Kmart,” the clip begins.

“I thought I’d take one, take it home and try it.

“It’s actually a fan, a light ring, and another light. I put it on my tripod and gave it a crack.”

To your amazement, it performed as well as similar versions that can cost almost four times the price.

Ring lights are basically used by influencers or professional content creators online as they allow light to diffuse onto your face, giving the photo a subtle yet striking glow.

So whether it’s a video recording or a selfie, it helps produce perfectly balanced lighting.

The $ 10 hack left other TikTok users stunned and ready to catch the affordable fan for themselves.

“Thanks, that’s a robbery,” commented one person.

“Damn $ 10. I’m going to Kmart,” wrote another.

“Lol just in case you want the light and some air for your TikToks lol” commented a third person, while some called it “Beyonce’s fan light”.

“Beyonce fan omggg,” wrote a very excited TikTok user.

“My God, I want one,” demanded another.

Some were confused by the trick, and one person questioned its purpose.

“It’s not really a trick if it does what it’s supposed to,” said one person, to which Mark responded, “but it’s made for camping, not Tiktoks lol!”

Mark said it was “definitely worth it” for $ 10, adding that you can turn off the fan and simply use the light to take selfies or record videos.

However, a couple of people noticed that the batteries don’t last long.

“They’re good, but the batteries don’t last more than half an hour,” wrote a Kmart buyer.

“The battery doesn’t last long,” added another.

If you’d like to give it a try, the article can be found in the Kmart camping section or purchased online.

But if it’s the “real” selfie light you’re after, the retailer has a 10-inch ring selfie light pack for
$ 39 – you just won’t get the added “Beyonce fan” effect.
