Lisa Kudrow says she was relieved when she found out she didn’t have to be a “celebrity.”

She said Candis magazine that being a celebrity is completely different from being an actor. One requires showing up at parties and posing for magazines, and the other requires hard work.
“It’s pretty easy to be a celebrity, you just show up at parties, you’re in the right places and you publish your picture in magazines, that’s really doable. When friends began to take off, Kudrow said he thought it was his job to be a celebrity.
“I started thinking, ‘Hmmm, should I go to this party or that one? Should I go now or wait a few more minutes? And I tried it and I hated it, I really hated it. “
The realization that she could be an actress and ditch the talking and posing was a huge relief.
“And then I realized that one has nothing to do with the other. He could still be an actor without being a celebrity.
“I could still get the jobs I wanted and play the roles I wanted to play, and I could also take my son to school and go home at night to have dinner with my husband as well.
It also meant that she could be home in time for dinner with her husband Michael Stern and their 22-year-old son Julian.
“So it was nice to be able to let go of the other things, which was not me at all.”
Heads of friends allowed Kudrow the creative freedom to work on other projects alongside the show during its impressive 10-year, 10-season run.
She said the flexibility kept her satisfied and interested in the job.
“There is something nomadic about being an actor and if we feel trapped in the only thing that we are allowed to do, we could start saying ‘Ugh’ and get frustrated,” he said.
“But I never felt that way because everything while I was doing friends, the producers let me go and make independent movies too.
“I remember being very grateful for that at the time and thinking, ‘Wow, this is life.’
