A fourth person has been arrested and charged with murder following the death of Christchurch man Kane Wayman.

Police today arrested a 31-year-old man who is due to appear in Christchurch District Court tomorrow.

A police spokeswoman said the investigation is continuing to establish whether other people are involved.

Meanwhile, two people appeared yesterday in the Christchurch District Court, jointly accused, along with “unknown persons”, of Wayman’s murder.

The couple, a man and a woman, both aged 24, appeared in court separately and were granted provisional name removal.

The 24-year-old defendant has been identified in the indictment documents as a pawn. The woman is from Christchurch.

A third person, a 41-year-old man, was also arrested and charged with murder yesterday.

He was arrested in Southland and is due to appear in Invercargill District Court on Monday.

Police said yesterday that examinations of the scene were continuing in two directions and that the police investigation was ongoing.

Earlier in the week it was revealed that police raided a gang headquarters in connection with the death.

Late on Friday morning, several officers were seen outside the emergency department at Christchurch Hospital on Riccarton Ave.

They were supervising a white Mercedes car without license plates.

Members of the public passed by the car as a tow truck pulled the vehicle away.

Police confirmed that Wayman had been thrown to the hospital with serious injuries and later died.
