Emergency services are responding to a large fire on Auckland’s north shore.

Eighteen fire trucks and other vehicles from across Auckland are fighting to control the blaze on Triton Drive in Rosedale, near Albany.

Both ends of Triton Dr have been closed as firefighters work to contain the blaze.

A police spokeswoman said officers were assisting police at the scene.

North shift manager Colin Underdown said Fire and Emergency Services received multiple reports of a building fire shortly before 8:30 p.m.

Underdown said the two-story building measured 200 by 50 meters and the fire was not yet under control.

“The firefighters transmitted a second alarm just before their arrival, the building was well involved on arrival,” he said.

A third alarm has been activated, signifying a large fire, calling for more help.

The building is understood as an engineering design company, with the fire causing in the companies workshop. There are no reports of injuries.

John, who calls Newstalk ZB, says that he just walked past the fire. He says it looks like a substantial modern office building.

“I think there are quite a few small businesses.”

Says it’s well lit, a “pretty big” fire.
