Emergency services who attended a two-car accident on State Highway 8 near Lake Tekapo.
One person was airlifted to Christchurch Hospital with serious injuries following a two-car accident near Lake Tekapo Township.
Emergency services were called to the scene just after 9 a.m. Saturday on State Highway 8 near Lake Tekapo Airport.
A spokeswoman for St John said there were two helicopters on the scene, one from Christchurch and one from Dunedin.

Two people had also been flown to Christchurch with moderate injuries.
Three ambulances had attended, he said.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokeswoman said two teams, one from Twizel and one from Tekapo, have responded.

Police said the road is blocked and long delays are expected.
Drivers are asked to delay the trip and the alternate route is through Waimate to Kurow.
Lake Tekapo resident George Empson said traffic is jammed through the village of Lake Tekapo.
“There are massive delays, it must be important.”
The crash comes when the Labor Weekend toll is two, following separate crashes in Wellington and the East Coast on Friday night.
