Emergency services arrive at Sampson Lane after a man was electrocuted and then fell while cutting trees.

A man who was electrocuted and then fell while cutting trees on Auckland’s North Shore on Sunday night has survived his ordeal.

Police say the man was cutting trees on a property on Sampson Ln in Northcote shortly before 8 p.m. when the accident occurred.

He hit a live wire and then fell to the ground, a police spokeswoman said.

Officers responded to a call from St John’s ambulance at 7.55 p.m.

When emergency services arrived, they reported that the man had serious injuries.

At approximately 8.15 pm, a young man was seen sitting in the back of an ambulance but with his eyes closed, accompanied by a young woman and ambulance officers. The ambulance did not leave the property under flashing lights and was traveling at highway speed.

Birkenhead firefighters attended the incident.

Around 8.30 pm, a Ute from the Vector lines company arrived.

Police said WorkSafe would be notified.
