Former Trump aide Steve Bannon was suspended on Twitter after a horrifying segment on his podcast calling for beheadings as a “warning” to federal officials.
Speaking on his podcast earlier today, Bannon said he wanted to “go back to the old days of Tudor England,” where it would have been acceptable for adversaries’ heads to go on pikes outside the White House.
Bannon, who served as chief White House strategist for the first seven months of Donald Trump’s first term, asked the president to begin his second term by firing the two federal officials.
“The second term begins with the firing of Wray, the firing of Fauci,” he said.
“Now I want to go one step further, but I realize that the president is a man with a good heart and a good man.
“In fact, I would like to go back to the old days of Tudor England, I would put heads on pikes, right, I would put them on both corners of the White House as a warning to the federal bureaucrats.
“Either you stick with the show or you go, it’s time to stop playing. Blow everything up, put Ric Grenell today as the acting head of the FBI, that will enlighten them, right?
Bannon’s co-host Jack Maxey referenced the anniversary of a hanging in Philadelphia.
“You know what Steve, yesterday the anniversary of the hanging of two conservatives in Philadelphia, they were Quaker businessmen who had lived with the British while they occupied Philadelphia,” said Maxey.
“These people were hanged. This is what we used to do with traitors.”
“This is how you won the revolution,” Bannon replied.
“Nobody wants to talk about it. The revolution was not some kind of outdoor party, was it? It was a civil war. It was a civil war.”
Bannon’s Twitter for @WarRoomPandemic was suspended today. Twitter said the account had violated its code of conduct.
YouTube and Facebook have yet to do the same.
