A family of ducklings causes havoc for Wellington motorists Sunday morning (FILE PHOTO)
A family of ducks was responsible for a large traffic jam on the Porirua-Johnsonville Highway near Wellington on Sunday morning.
At approximately 10:40 a.m., a mother duck and her baby ducklings attempted to cross the 100km / h road, prompting drivers to stop to avoid running over them.
It comes two days after a mysterious wandering seal blocked night traffic on Wellington’s urban highway. Police could not locate the stamp.

Several drivers got out of their cars in an attempt to scare off the ducks.
A police spokesman said exiting a vehicle for any reason is dangerous on an urban highway.
“Although they are very cute, it is very dangerous when people stop their cars on the freeway,” he said.
Animal control was dispatched to the scene and managed to safely remove all the ducks.
Traffic reportedly began to clear around 11:45 onwards, after just over an hour.
