Van Gogh Alive tickets have been sold for an inflated price on Viagogo.
Music and art lovers are cautioned not to buy tickets on the Viagogo online resale site as it targets New Zealand events, an agency warns.
WellingtonNZ has received dozens of complaints of overpriced tickets purchased on the site, Events and experiences warns general manager Warrick Dent.

“New Zealand is one of the few countries in the world capable of hosting major touring events during the pandemic,” explained Dent. “This probably would have sharpened Viagogo’s focus on the country’s events market.
“The complaints we have received will be the tip of an iceberg of unknown size.”

There were about 30 complaints during January for art exhibitions. Van Gogh alive and musical Jersey boys. All of the whistleblowers mistakenly thought Viagogo was the official ticket seller, he said.
“We urge all individuals who purchase event tickets at our venues to visit the official Ticketmaster ticketing website.”
The Commerce Commission is taking legal action against Viagogo, alleging that it made a number of false statements, including about the price, scarcity and guaranteed validity of tickets sold on Viagogo.
The full case has yet to be seen by the courts.
A spokesperson for the commission urged ticket buyers to buy from official ticket websites.
Avoid clicking the first Internet search result you see for an event. Scroll down the page and look for the official ticket outlet or, if you’re not sure, visit the artist’s website to find out who the official ticket seller is, ”they said.
