Donald Trump vows not to relinquish the presidency, promising legal battle | 1 NEWS

US President Donald Trump is not giving in to President-elect Joe Biden, promising unspecified legal challenges that seek to overturn the outcome of the White House race.

Trump said in a statement that “our campaign will begin to process our case in court to ensure that electoral laws are fully enforced and that the rightful winner is seated.”

Trump was at his Virginia golf course when Biden’s presidential race was called this morning.

Biden achieved his victory with a victory in Pennsylvania, the state where he was born.

In recent weeks, Trump has alleged, without evidence, widespread election fraud and misconduct.

His comments have prompted bipartisan reprimand from election officials and lawmakers as dangerous attempts to undermine public confidence in voting.

FULL STATEMENT BY DONALD TRUMP:

“We all know why Joe Biden is rushing to pose as the winner, and why his allies in the media are trying to help him: they don’t want the truth exposed. The simple fact is that this election is far from over. Joe Biden has not been certified the winner of any state, let alone highly controversial states that are heading for mandatory counts, or states where our campaign has valid and legitimate legal challenges that could determine the ultimate victor. In Pennsylvania, for example, our legal observers were not allowed meaningful access to observe the counting process. Legal votes decide who the president is, not the media.

“Starting Monday, our campaign will begin to process our case in court to ensure that electoral laws are fully enforced and that the rightful winner is seated. The American people have the right to an honest election – that means counting all legal votes and not counting illegal votes. This is the only way to ensure that the public has full confidence in our choice. It remains shocking that the Biden campaign refuses to agree to this basic principle and wants ballots to be counted even if they are fraudulent, fabricated, or cast by ineligible or deceased voters. Only one party involved in a violation would illegally keep observers out of the counting room and then fight in court to block their access.

So what is Biden hiding? I will not rest until the American people have the honest vote count that they deserve and that democracy demands. “

The statement was issued while Trump was playing golf at his club in Virginia.
