“Masks, not masks and everything you can do, but you still need the boss’s help. We need help from the boss, ”he said pointing to the sky.

“Someone told me the other day ‘you are the most famous person in the world by far’ and I said ‘no, I’m not. No I’m not. ‘ He said ‘Who is more famous?’ I said ‘Jesus Christ.’

The crowd erupted in applause before Trump continued: “I’m taking no chances. I have no discussion. Let me look up and I’ll say it’s not even close. “

Trump took time to label his rival Joe Biden as “corrupt” during the rally Thursday afternoon, claiming that the Democratic presidential candidate was in the pocket of the Chinese government.

He also took some of his most outspoken punches yet against the government’s top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, while campaigning in North Carolina.

Trump defended his administration’s response to the pandemic, as he often does at rallies.

It offered a reminder that Fauci at one point said that people shouldn’t wear a mask. The doctor has said that one of the first recommendations about not wearing a mask was because at that time there was a shortage of personal protective equipment for health professionals. Since then he has called for the use of a universal mask.

Trump called Fauci a good guy, “so I’ll keep him close.”

But he also described Fauci, as a Democrat. “Everyone knows that. He’s a friend of Cuomo,” says Trump, referring to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Fauci has been carefully apolitical during a five-decade career in public health. The doctor has expressed dismay that the president used his comments in a campaign ad and says his comments were taken out of context.

Trump’s attacks come after he used Fauci’s words out of context in a Trump campaign ad, without his permission.

After visiting North Carolina and Florida, Trump would participate in a televised town hall-style session from Miami.

His Democratic challenger, Joe Biden, will participate in his own televised city hall appearance from Philadelphia at the same time.
