Marcus McKay, 19, has been missing since 9 p.m. Friday.
Police say they are still working to establish where a missing 19-year-old Temuka went hunting and who he was with.
Marcus McKay was last seen at 9 p.m. Friday, when he left his partner and brother at home after a day trip to Christchurch and headed out hunting with a friend for a few hours again.
A police spokeswoman said they were alerted around 9 p.m. Saturday that a hunter was delayed on a day trip with a friend.
“Unfortunately, the informant did not know where the person planned to go hunting or who the friend was,” he said.
“The police have been investigating, trying to establish where the person was going and with whom.”
At 5:15 p.m. Sunday, a police spokeswoman said they had no further information to add.
“I just want him home,” said Marcus’s mother, Jocelyn McKay. Things on Sunday morning.
“Your phone goes straight to the answering machine.”
McKay believed his son, who was driving a gray Mitsubishi Triton that is also missing, was in Geraldine’s area. However, she didn’t know for sure; it could be anywhere in the South Canterbury region.
“I’m trying to be positive, but our whole family cries most of the time,” she said.
“I can’t help but think the worst because it’s so out of place. He is the type of person who is in contact with the family all the time, he is very family oriented. He’s one of those guys who’s always on his phone.
Marcus McKay had only been hunting a handful of times and didn’t have a gun, his mother said.
“I think he was just dating people who had done it before. His partner thought he was leaving his vehicle at a Geraldine address, but he is not there, ”he said.
“We’ve had a lot of support from friends and family, and a lot of people wanting to come up and take a look. I can’t thank those people enough. “
