Police said the death of a girl in South Auckland is currently “inexplicable”.
Police continue to investigate the unexplained death of a girl in south Auckland, and a post-mortem examination is due to be completed on Friday.
Police were called to the property on Sandbrook Ave, Ōtara, after the baby was found dead around 10 a.m. Thursday.
A survey of the scene is underway and police have been speaking with a man at the address as part of their investigation, Counties Manukau Detective Major Sgt. Veronica McPherson said Friday.
“No charges have been filed at this stage, however our investigations are continuing,” he said.

There are two floors in the unit owned by Kaianga Ora, both of which are understood to be occupied by young couples with young children.
Neighbors said Stuff they did not hear anything strange during the night or in the morning.
No one knew the young couple who lived there, but said the baby appeared to be less than a year old.
On Thursday, police officers were working inside the apartment with specialized forensic equipment. Inside you could see a stroller.
A young couple with a baby left the other floor in their car shortly before 3 in the afternoon.
A scene guard was in place during the night.
