Police outside a bank in Chartwell in Hamilton after a robbery in daylight.
Westpac staff and a customer were “shocked” after an apparent daylight bank robbery in Hamilton.
Police pounced on the incident at the Chartwell Mall before 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Waikato Police Sergeant Major Pete Simpson confirmed that they are investigating an “event” at Westpac Bank in Chartwell.
The bank branch is closed and had a note on the door saying it was closed as a result of a robbery.

A Westpac spokesperson said they were supporting the team at Westpac Chartwell following today’s incident.
“No one was hurt, but our people are understandably shocked. There was also only one client in the branch that we will provide support ”.
He said the branch will be closed today and tomorrow morning as they cater to the needs of their employees.
