Roy Horn, Siegfried & Roy fame, has died of complications from Covid-19.

He was 75 years old.

Horn, half of the longtime Las Vegas illusionist duo, had tested positive for the coronavirus.

He died today at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas.

“Today, the world has lost one of the greats of magic, but I have lost my best friend,” said his partner, Siegfried Fischbacher, in a statement.

“From the moment we met, I knew that Roy and I, together, would change the world. There could be no Siegfried without Roy, nor Roy without Siegfried. Roy was a fighter all his life, even these past few days.

“I sincerely thank the team of doctors, nurses, and staff at Mountain View Hospital who worked heroically against this insidious virus that finally took Roy ‘s life.”

Horn was seriously injured by a tiger during a Siegfried & Roy performance at The Mirage hotel-casino in Las Vegas in 2003.

He left Horn partially paralyzed and finished the successful show of the duo.

The duo consistently claimed that the cat had clung to Horn as a way to protect the artist, after suffering a stroke and falling.

Horn insisted that the cat “saved his life” by trying to drag him to safety and begged him not to lower him.

The duo, born in Germany as Siegfried Fischbacher and Uwe Ludwig Horn, made their first appearance in Las Vegas in 1967 and played in several different casinos, becoming the main act at the Mirage Resort and Casino in 1990.

In 2009, the duo returned to the stage for the last time for a show to benefit the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health at the Cleveland Clinic in Las Vegas.

The couple were said to be working on a biopic to be released in the form of multi-part docuseries in 2021.
