Despite the fact that the Covid-19 virus infects more than three million worldwide, there are still several countries that have yet to report a single case.
In fact, 33 countries and territories have not reported any coronavirus infections.
These include Comoros and Lesotho in Africa and Tajikistan and Turkmenistan in Asia.
But Covid’s largest group of free countries is among the Pacific Islands, according to Reuters data.
There are 21 island nations and territories in Oceania that have not reported cases, including Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Tokelau, Niue, Nauru, Kiribati, the Cook Islands, and the Solomon Islands.
Other Pacific nations such as Fiji (18), New Caledonia (18), and Papua New Guinea (8) have reported cases.
In total, the 33 countries that reported no infection decreased for about a month when there were 45 countries and territories.
As of April 20, 214 locations worldwide, of the 247 countries and territories recognized by the United Nations, had reported at least one case of the new coronavirus.
Of these, 190 reported that there had been local transmission in their communities. There have also been deaths in 166 of the countries and territories.
But the fact that a nation has not reported any cases does not necessarily mean that there are none.
North Korea has not reported any coronavirus infections. However, the neighboring countries of China, Russia and South Korea are dealing with a large number of cases, making it possible, perhaps even probable, that the most secretive state is dealing with at least some cases.
Some trends can be seen by observing the spread of the coronavirus by region.
