Two new cases of coronavirus were announced on Wednesday, both found in controlled isolation.

The second is a person who arrived from London, also via Dubai and Kuala Lumpur, on the same date.

Four previous cases are now considered recovered, which means that the number of active cases is 66.

New Zealand’s total confirmed cases of the virus now stands at 1,587.

Labs completed another 3,335 Covid-19 tests on Tuesday, bringing the total number completed to 1,075,827.

The cargo ship Ken Rei, believed to have been possibly exposed to the virus, remains docked in the port of Napier.

The ministry said its crews are said to be well and “in a good mood.” All have so far tested negative for the virus.

More tests were conducted Tuesday afternoon and are still being processed.

No member of the crew has asked to leave the ship and will depart Napier for Tauranga on Thursday.

No more international sailors, who remain in controlled isolation in Christchurch, have tested positive for the virus.

So far, 29 have tested positive for the virus. Sailors who previously tested negative will be tested again on the 12th.

“The decision on how long international sailors will stay at the facility will be confirmed after the results of these tests are received and reviewed,” the ministry said.

“Genome sequencing has been completed from 11 high-quality samples taken from the positive cases. The results are consistent with foreign-originating infections. “

The tests are still available in Auckland at seven community testing centers after the latest outbreak.

These are Northcote Community Testing Center, Northcare Accident and Medical, Whānau House in Henderson, Western Springs Community Testing Center, Health New Lynn Community Testing Center, Whānau Ora Community Clinic in Wiri, and the Otara Community Testing Center.
