New Zealand has a new imported coronavirus case and continues its new streak of non-EU cases.

In the meantime, the country has passed the million mark, which Chief Health Officer Ashley Bloomfield described as a significant milestone.

New Zealand has gone 16 days without a new case of Covid-19 in the community.

The only new case reported on Sunday is that of a girl who arrived from India and who has been in a managed isolation facility since her arrival.

Details of the current cases on the Ministry of Health website show that the case is a girl between one and four years old.

They tested positive at the Jet Park quarantine facility and were previously identified as a close contact for two previously confirmed cases, the Health Ministry said in a statement.

That brings the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases to 1,515.

New Zealand has gone 15 days without a new case of Covid-19 in the community.

The total number of active cases is 45, all of which are imported. No additional recovered cases were reported.

On Sunday there was not a single person in New Zealand in the hospital with Covid-19, the ministry said.

Kiwi Labs processed 3809 tests on Saturday, bringing the total number of tests completed to date to 1,000,764.

Bloomfield said in a statement that the one million test mark was a significant milestone that reflects a sustained team effort.

“I want to acknowledge everyone who has been tested to date and the trained workforce that performs these tests,” he said.

“Each of these tests has contributed to our understanding of the virus and its prevalence in New Zealand. To all who have been part of the process, I want to thank you and thank you for your contribution.

“You have made a difference.”

Dr Ashley Bloomfield said that more than 1 million tests for Covid-19 have now been performed in New Zealand.

On Wednesday, the Health Ministry said all the patients from the recent Auckland outbreak had recovered and there were no active cases left in the community.

The August Auckland cluster will be officially closed when there are no new cases for two incubation periods, 28 days, since all cases completed isolation.

Bledisloe Cup

The Health Ministry is asking anyone with tickets to the All Blacks vs Australia game in Wellington to feel bad to stay home.

With the country at Level 1 and no restrictions on the size of meetings, the ministry continues to recommend keeping a safe distance from people you don’t know while you’re away from home.

“Consider wearing a mask or face covering when physical distancing is difficult.”

Those going to the game on public transport will be asked to use the Covid Tracer app to check in for buses and trains or to keep track of times and route.

Attendees are also asked to check in at the stadium, write down their seat number and practice good hygiene.

There are now more than two million users of the app and, as of Saturday, there have been a total of 88,585,463 poster scans.
