The sixth person arrived on December 5 from Turkey via Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.

The Health Ministry said eight previously reported cases have recovered, making New Zealand’s total number of active cases 54.

It was also announced that the Pakistani men’s cricket team tested negative on all results on the 12th, and 52 team members will be released from the MIQ facility in Christchurch.

One case will remain in the Christchurch quarantine facility until it is fully recovered.

After extensive testing and completing their time in administered isolation in Christchurch, the Canterbury DHB health medical officer was satisfied that the players pose a very low risk to the community, the ministry said.

All of the people who tested positive as part of the November Quarantine Group have now recovered and been released from isolation.

On Monday the Ministry announced that there was a new case of the virus, in managed isolation.

It also announced that it was reducing the frequency of its regular Covid-19 updates to four times a week.

Covid-19 updates, which are currently released daily at 1 p.m., will be scheduled for Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

On those days, the Ministry will report the cases that have tested positive in isolation administered in the days prior to the last update.

Any “significant development”, such as a case arising in the community, will be reported earlier if necessary, the ministry said.

“At this stage in New Zealand’s response to Covid-19, we are seeing cases routinely appearing at the border in recent returnees in managed isolation facilities,” the ministry said.

“We hope this will continue to be the case as long as we remain at alert level 1 with the isolation requirements managed.”

In the meantime. a health care manager at a managed isolation and quarantine facility in Auckland resigned during a misconduct investigation, Things has learned.

Mystery surrounds the nature of the misconduct, but the Auckland District Health Board (DHB) says it did not involve personal misconduct with a guest.

The total number of confirmed cases in New Zealand is 1,729.
