There are no new Covid-19 cases to report in New Zealand today.
New Zealand has recorded 1,515 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began.
The total number of active cases in the country remains at 45, and all are imported cases.
There are no active Covid cases in the community.
No one is in the hospital with Covid today.
Yesterday’s cases
An imported case was reported yesterday at a managed isolation facility.
That positive case was that of a person who arrived on a flight from India on September 26 and is staying in a quarantine center in Auckland.
The victim is linked as a close contact of two people who previously tested positive.
As of yesterday, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in New Zealand was 1,515 people.
Health officials also released new figures yesterday on the number of Covid tests performed in New Zealand.
More than 1 million kiwis have undergone a Covid test
The Ministry of Health reported that we had just passed the million mark, with a total of 1,000,764 tests completed as of yesterday.
Chief Health Officer Dr Ashley Bloomfield acknowledged that reaching that milestone demonstrates the continued effort in New Zealand to eradicate the virus.
“The one million test milestone reflects a sustained team effort,” he said.
“I want to acknowledge everyone who has been tested to date and the skilled workforce that performs the tests.
Bloomfield thanked everyone who had been part of the process.
“Thank you for your contribution. You have made a difference.”
