Covid 19 coronavirus: Waikato cities can relax: casual contact tests negative

Small towns on high alert can breathe a sigh of relief after a person who was a casual contact of a positive Covid-19 case has tested negative.

Today, Chief Health Officer Dr. Ashley Bloomfield reported that casual contact who was on the same flight as an infected Defense Forces staff member and attended a meeting in Kawhia was not feeling well.

Students from Ōtorohanga College attended the meeting.

The Kawhia Primary School and Otorohanga College Hostel Facebook pages have posted an update stating that the person tested negative.

The shelter, which was temporarily closed, will reopen tomorrow, he said in a statement on Facebook.

It comes as the Waikato District Board of Health says that all of today’s lab tests for Covid-19 have returned negative results.

“This includes the individual identified as a casual contact from a case on a flight from Auckland to Wellington on November 5,” the DHB said in a statement.
