There are two new cases of Covid-19, both in the community.
Both cases have an epidemiological link to an existing case and both are associated with the subset of bereavement events that is epidemiologically linked to the Mt Roskill Evangelical Fellowship group.
One of the cases is a student at Sunnyvale School in Henderson. They were not contagious when they last attended school and the Auckland Regional Public Health Service has not identified any close contact within the school community.
The Health Ministry said the school remains open and safe for students and staff to attend.

There are 33 cases remaining in the Mt Roskill Evangelical Fellowship group and there are now 15 cases in the bereavement event group, which includes cases where the source of infection was bereavement events.

There are now 63 people linked to the community group remaining in the Auckland quarantine facility, which includes 47 people who tested positive and their household contacts.

There are three people in the hospital with covid-19, one in isolation in a ward at Auckland City Hospital. Two are in the ICU, North Shore and Waikato hospitals.

The bereavement subgroup began when an infectious church member visited a grieving family while Auckland was at Level 3. The infectious person had been identified as a close contact of an infected person and should have been isolated at home.
All church members were asked to retest, and as of 8am yesterday, 82% of the congregation had registered new tests.
There are 70 people linked to Auckland’s larger group under quarantine at the Jet Park Hotel, which included 55 people who tested positive, and their household contacts.
Of 3623 close contacts identified for this outbreak, 3608 have been contacted and are self-isolating.
Yesterday, three people were in the hospital, two of them in intensive care, one at North Shore Hospital and the other at Waikato Hospital.
The ministry also confirmed yesterday that a confirmed case Thursday was a Henderson North School student, but said the student, a family contact from a previously reported case, was not contagious when he last attended school and that there were no contacts. close between the school. community.
Auckland is currently at level 2.5, with the rest of New Zealand at level 2.
The cabinet will review those levels on Monday, and any confirmed changes will take effect at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday.
