A staggering 17 people who traveled from India to Auckland last month on a single flight have tested positive for Covid-19.
On the Air India flight from Delhi that landed in New Zealand on August 23, men, women and children were infected over the past fortnight after traveling on the 20-hour flight.
The Health Ministry revealed last month that the first group of seven sick passengers were detected during routine tests on day 3 in controlled isolation.

On August 28, seven passengers, three men in their 30s, a woman in her 60s, a woman in her 20s, and two children, tested positive for Covid-19.
On a day when the country experienced a sudden spike in imported Covid cases, health officials confirmed that they all arrived in New Zealand on August 23 on the same Air India flight from Delhi and tested positive around day 3. of their stay in controlled isolation.
The next day, a woman in her 70s and a man in her 30s who were staying at the Grand Millennium in Auckland and who traveled on the same August 23 flight from India tested positive.
Then on September 1, one day here, 14 people tested positive for Covid, a 20-year-old woman and a 30-year-old woman, who were in controlled isolation and who arrived from India on the same flight, both were found to have the infection.
Three days later, on September 4, two children under the age of 9, and who were relatives of previously identified cases on the flight, tested positive at the Auckland Jet Park quarantine facility.
The weekend saw two more cases related to the flight.
Another child linked to a previously identified case tested positive on Saturday and a man in his 20s who had been housed in an Auckland isolation facility tested positive on Sunday.
The Health Ministry said he was a close contact to an existing confirmed case and tested positive after routine tests around day 12 of his stay. You are now in quarantine.
A couple additional cases were added to the count yesterday. Both were detected by testing in managed isolation and quarantine facilities.
The first was a boy and the second a woman in her 20s. They both arrived from India on August 23.
Each of them was a close contact of previously reported separate confirmed cases.
There are now 118 active cases in New Zealand. Of these, 41 are imported cases in quarantine facilities. Another 77 are community cases.
There are currently 1,425 cases of Covid-19 in New Zealand.
