There are no new community cases of Covid-19 to report today and only one in managed isolation.
The Health Ministry says the number of daily Covid Tracer scans has doubled since last Wednesday and says the test levels over the long weekend are “nice.”
The case in managed isolation was under investigation yesterday and has now been classified as a confirmed case, but the person has now recovered.
Three other people have also recovered, meaning the number of active cases in New Zealand is 70.
The Health Ministry says that all tests of the international fishing crew on day six at a border hotel in Christchurch have also concluded and there are no new cases to report.
The total number of confirmed cases from New Zealand is 1,579.
Tests
5,396 tests were processed yesterday, and the Health Ministry said it was a “strong figure for the weekend.”
“Testing has also been enjoyable in the Auckland area, with metropolitan DHBs reporting steady demand at all seven community testing centers in the region, where 633 people were sampled yesterday.”
There are seven community testing centers open over the long weekend at:
• Northcote Community Testing Center.
• Northcare Accident and Medical, Whānau House in Henderson.
• Western Springs Community Testing Center.
• The Whānau Ora Community Clinic in Wiri.
• The Otara Community Testing Center.
• The North Harbor Stadium car park in Albany.
The tests are also available throughout the Greater Auckland area at various urgent care clinics and general offices over the long weekend.
All trials are free.
The Health Ministry says anyone can call Healthline 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for advice and information on testing sites. The dedicated Covid number is 0800 358 5453.
“We would also like to extend our appreciation to the primary care teams conducting testing today, laboratory staff, public health teams, hospital staff, and other health professionals who are working this long weekend to support our response to the pandemic. “
Covid Tracer
The Health Ministry says the number of poster scans has almost doubled compared to the number reported last Wednesday and that is “encouraging.”
“The more we scan, the safer we’ll be. The faster we respond, the faster we’ll stop it.”
If you are unable or unwilling to use the app, the ministry encourages people to use the written login that companies should have available. For your own records, you should also use another method that works for you, such as the NZ Covid Tracer brochure, which can be downloaded from the ministry’s website.
