A South Australian woman has shared a haunting image of a display at an Adelaide Hills pharmacy where “trial” masks were available to customers.
“Does anyone else think there might be a problem here?” She wrote in a post on Twitter, along with the image, that shows two disposable face masks, both labeled “tester,” placed on top of a shelf full of hand sanitizer.
“Shared masks! What could go wrong?” one Twitter user wrote in response to the post, while another called it “sheer idiocy.”
One man wrote that he had recounted a similar situation at another pharmacy in the South Australian capital, where the owner said staff used the masks to “demonstrate” how face masks should be used.
Meanwhile, prominent anti-coronavirus conspiracy theorist James Bartolo has warned his supporters not to attend an anti-lockdown protest today, calling it a “cheat.”
Bartolo, who was arrested yesterday morning for inciting an illegal protest, wrote that he was “concerned for the safety of the brave men and women planning to go” to the rally.
The 27-year-old said that attending a protest is “the worst thing to do.”
“It’s a setup from the beginning. It’s all just terrible. Don’t go to that one,” he said.
“What’s going to happen, Dan Andrews will blame the protest for the extension of the shutdown. Don’t go to the protest.”
His warning comes as Victoria recorded 76 new coronavirus cases and 11 deaths overnight, while Queensland reported a new infection – a close contact of a known case.
