Police are investigating a claim made on a notorious horror website of a person apparently infected with Covid-19 and who wishes to spread it.

The post has been shared on 8Chan, infamous for inciting terror, hateful and racist views.

“Long story short, I’m pretty sure I have the woohoo flu: I was in the same restaurant as a confirmed case, I have a sore throat and I can’t stop coughing … (sic),” he says.

“How can I do my best to become a super spreader?”

The poster, which is only called Anonymous, goes on to say that they have exams today and Friday for “important courses” and asks how you can change your breathing to “maximize the risk of infection.”

“Is mouth breathing better than nose breathing? I don’t want to cough too much in case the supervisors move me …”

No location is mentioned in the post.

However, several students at the University of Auckland have shared it on Facebook in an attempt to raise awareness among students, particularly those who must take an exam on the two days mentioned.

A police spokesman confirmed this morning that they have learned of the complaints.

“We are currently evaluating this information,” he said.

The person behind the original post posted it in the early hours of yesterday morning, just after 2 a.m. M.

The university has confirmed to NewsHub that its staff is investigating the post.

Several students have said online that they have reported the post to officials, including the police and the Ministry of Health.
