Three newcomers from the US are among the latest confirmed cases of Covid-19 on Saturday. They are now in quarantine.

There is a new case of Covid-19 in managed isolation and there are no new cases from the Pakistan cricket team.

The Health Ministry said Sunday’s case is that of a person who arrived from Jordan via Dubai on November 26; are in the Auckland quarantine facility.

A case had also been added to the total number of New Zealand cases, a member of the Pakistan cricket squad in administered isolation, which was reported on Saturday.

In all, six team members tested positive on day 1 and one team member tested positive on day 3.

The 53 members of the Pakistan Squad in Isolation Managed in Christchurch have also undergone serology (blood) tests.

After testing, two of the original six positive cases were now considered historical cases and are therefore not infectious.

Another 11 people also tested positive for serology indicating previous “historical” infections, a ministry spokesman said.

Pakistan team broke the rules

The team, which is located at the Chateau on the Park in Christchurch, was previously criticized by Director General of Health Dr. Ashley Bloomfield for violating the rules within the facility.

They were seen on CCTV mingling, sharing food and chatting, he said.

The reported violations occurred within the touring group and did not affect other guests on the premises.

Compliance with the rules has “improved significantly” since then, the ministry said.

The seventh case tested positive during routine tests, he said.

“The rest of the team’s day three smear test results, aside from the six that already tested positive, are negative.”

The team will be tested on the sixth day of their stay in managed isolation.

Weekend coronavirus cases

Two previously reported cases are now considered to have recovered, bringing our total number of active cases to 69.

The country’s total number of confirmed cases is now 1,696.

On Saturday, three cases of Covid-19 arrived from the United States: two on November 23 and one on November 26.

The first two cases tested positive around the third day of their stay. The third was tested upon arrival, as he had symptoms.

All three were transferred to Auckland’s Quarantine Facility, Jet Park.

Meanwhile, 18 close contacts have now been identified of an Air New Zealand staff member who tested positive for the first time in China.

All but one has returned a negative result. Tests are being arranged for the final close contact, the ministry said.

The Health Ministry also said that the NZ Covid Tracer app now has 2,387,000 registered users.

Poster scans have reached 129,010,201 and users have created 5,229,595 manual journal entries.
