A West Auckland primary school was closed for a time this afternoon as police searched the area with members of the armed criminal squad following reports of gunfire.

Police confirmed to 1 NEWS that two people are in custody after the incident. The couple has not been charged.
Lincoln Heights School in Massey was the school at the center of the bull run.
Police say the lockdown, which has since been lifted, came when they responded to an earlier incident at an address on Keegan Drive that was reported just before noon.
They say the couple was arrested after police “approached” this property.
“As a precaution, the nearby Lincoln Heights School has been closed due to proximity to the curbs,” police said at the time.

A man who worked near the school says he heard two shots, which sounded like they came “from a shotgun.”
It says the police invaded the area about “seven minutes later.”
Police told a 1 NEWS reporter at the scene that no one was injured in the incident.
“Police are still working to determine the full set of circumstances from the previous incident and these investigations will continue this afternoon.
