Brazilian fighter Ronaldo Souza is out of UFC 249 after returning a positive test for the coronavirus a day after his scheduled fight against Uriah Hall.
ESPN reported Souza’s positive test on Saturday (NZT), although UFC 249 will continue as planned despite the shocking news, said Hunter Campbell, UFC executive vice president and chief commercial officer.
Souza, who trained in Orlando, Florida, arrived in Jacksonville on Thursday (NZT) and informed UFC officials that a family member may have tested positive, ESPN reported.

Souza was asymptomatic but was monitored and tested. He turned positive after he had already appeared on the weigh-in for the fight.
