Courier drivers deliver every day of the week.
The national postal service receives an average of 200 packages per minute as staff works 24 hours a day to try to eliminate a large number of delivery delays due to the blockage.
In an email to customers, New Zealand Post said it received a record number of packages last week, the most in a seven-day period in its history.
The increased demand for their services in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic had seen staff work 24/7 at 11 locations in New Zealand.
While most packages were delivered in two to three days, the company warned customers that some would be delayed up to five business days.

“While we will continue to do our best to deliver your packages to you as quickly as possible, we expect this volume to continue in the coming weeks, so there will be continued delays,” the email said.
Physical distancing requirements were slowing down the process, but staff were doing their best to get packages to their recipients as quickly as possible.
Taxi drivers and ferries who were not as busy as ever were helping to deliver deliveries and around 200 were on the roads.
Staff delivered hundreds of thousands of packages a few days and completed deliveries seven days a week.
New Zealand Post also obtained an additional 3,000 containers to transport packages across the country.
“All of our people have stepped forward and are working incredibly hard to exceed volumes. We have people from across our business who help our delivery and processing teams.”
Contact center staff were working overtime to respond to customer inquiries and the company asked them to call them if their package was delayed more than five business days.
“We know that the packages you are expecting are important to you. Please be assured that while there may be a delay, we will send your package as soon as possible,” the email said.
