“However, the vast majority of the school are asked to stay away from other people outside the home until they are tested and receive a negative result,” said a spokesperson.
“While casual contacts have a very low risk of developing COVID-19, Public Health has requested that everyone in the school get tested and watch for symptoms.”
“It is understandable that some parents are upset that they did not find out until Wednesday, however this information was shared as soon as the facts were confirmed Wednesday.”
As a result of the case, the school will close until next Monday “at the earliest” to allow for a thorough cleaning and identification of close contacts.
“ARPHS decided to close the school while investigating the child’s movements and the risk to others,” the spokesperson said. “ARPHS also needed to identify the close contacts who are most at risk and need to be in self-isolation.
“The boy who was briefly in school had no symptoms, but was awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test on Sept. 13. The boy left school before the children started classes for the day, further reducing the risk to the school community. “
ARPHS has reached out to family members to communicate the importance of self-isolation, the spokesperson said.
“The members have been evaluated and remained in isolation until this event.
