A scene between Queensland police and a quarantine breaker has surfaced online, showing what can happen if you get caught breaking the rules in Australia.

Trying to go to McDonald’s despite being instructed to stay home unless there is a medical emergency, the resident, who will now have to be placed in government accommodation under his charge, was reprimanded by police.

Approaching the car, the police officer introduces himself as the “Covid unit” to the rule breaker before explaining what the next steps will be.

“You have left your residence, what happened? Why did you do that today?” asked the police officer.

“Is there any reason or emergency why you violated that quarantine?”

While the resident is not shown on camera, it is clear that he does not have a “medical” reason for being at McDonald’s.

“Your actions today have shown me that you cannot comply with quarantine instructions, so we will place you in government accommodation on your own. You will have to quarantine there,” the officer explained.

“You have violated the quarantine direction. We take our quarantine instructions in Queensland very seriously.

“We are not here to play with Covid. I understand that you did not know that you had close contact with someone … but once they give you an address and tell you to stay at home, it is very clear that you should not leave your home, to unless for medical treatment, medical services or any medical emergency situation.

“Coming to McDonald’s is definitely not that.”

That’s an expensive trip from McDonald’s.
