British artist Tim Brooke-Taylor, a member of the comedy trio The Goodies, died after contracting the new coronavirus. He was 79 years old.
Brooke-Taylor’s agent says he died “COVID-19” on Sunday morning (local time)
Brooke-Taylor was part of Cambridge University’s Footlights magazine, the breeding ground for several generations of British comic talents.

He entered radio and television comedy in the 1960s alongside future Monty Python members John Cleese and Graham Chapman.

The Goodies was a hit in New Zealand during the 1970s.
The trio specialized in slightly surreal sketches that incorporated visual inventiveness, antics, and song. Your song Funky gibbon It even became a hit in the UK Top 10 charts in 1975.
His television show, which aired during the 1970s, was a hit in Britain, Australia, and New Zealand and developed a cult following in many other countries.

Goodies co-star Garden said Brooke-Taylor was “a fun, outgoing, and generous man with whom it was a pleasure to work. The public found him not only hilarious but also adorable.”
“His loss at this terrible time is particularly difficult to bear,” Garden said.

Writer and performer Stephen Fry tweeted, “I just heard the devastating news of Tim Brooke-Taylor’s death. A hero for as long as I can remember, and sometimes a colleague and contributor to I’m Sorry I have no idea. Gentle, kind, funny, wise, warm, but penetratingly witty when he decided to be. Very sad. “
Brooke-Taylor is survived by his wife, Christine, and two children.
