The new case is the second student at a West Auckland school to test positive in recent days after a student at nearby St Dominic’s Catholic College was infected.
On Tuesday, ARPHS wrote to parents to tell them that a Henderson North School student had been identified as a close contact for someone with COVID-19.
Following news of the St. Dominic’s Catholic College case, the Ministry of Health began working with the school to evaluate all staff and students in the community. On Thursday, the deep cleaning of the school was completed and tests were underway.
“The examiners have been provided with a surveillance code to test asymptomatic members of the school community so they can keep track of the numbers,” the Health Ministry said.
“As of 11 am today, the labs had logged 561 tests with this code. There will also be additional tests where the person did not specify that they were related to St. Dominic’s.
“Staff and students have had access to two dedicated testing centers that are not open to the general public. This means they can be tested without long waits and results can be processed as quickly as possible; tests from these sites are prioritized. in the labs. “
Most of the students were considered casual contacts and were evaluated as a precautionary measure.
A health policy service in Henderson also tested positive for an employee earlier this week.
Meanwhile, Glenavon’s Blockhouse Bay School also had a confirmed case earlier this week. The student did not attend school during his infectious period and is now isolated with his family.
